Computational Linguistics and Language Technology as Minor (60)
The Bachelor's Minor in Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (60 ECTS credits) provides a broad introduction to computational linguistics and language technology. It combines foundational knowledge in computational linguistics with opportunities to develop practical and technical skills and to explore selected areas in greater depth.
The Minor cannot be combined with the Major in Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (120 ECTS credits).
The language of instruction is English.

Sample Curriculum
The sample curriculum shows one possible study plan for completing the program in six semesters as a full-time student. In a Major/Minor combination (180 ECTS credits in total), you will normally earn around 30 ECTS credits per semester. You may take fewer credits per semester, which will extend the duration of your studies accordingly.
For the Minor study program, we recommend starting in the Fall Semester.

Modular Structure of the Study Program
Each module is assigned to exactly one module group. To complete the program, you must earn at least 60 ECTS credits in the Minor overall and fulfill the requirements of the individual module groups.
The module group Introduction to Computational Linguistics provides the foundations for the rest of the program. You must complete all compulsory modules in this group as well as at least 3 additional ECTS credits from compulsory-elective modules.
In the module group Core Modules of Computational Linguistics and Language Technology, you must earn at least 18 ECTS credits. The remaining credits required to reach 60 ECTS credits can be freely chosen from all module groups of the study program.
This gives you considerable flexibility to develop your own academic profile. Depending on your interests, you can take further modules in computational linguistics and language technology, scientific specialization, computer science, or practice-oriented areas.
Throughout the program, you will encounter different learning formats, including lectures, tutorials and exercises, seminars, programming projects, and other practice-oriented modules. These formats combine theoretical foundations with scientific, technical, and practical experience.
Requirements for the Module Groups in the Minor 60
The remaining ECTS credits required to reach 60 ECTS credits may be earned freely from modules offered in any module group of the study program.
