Digital Humanities and Text Mining as Minor (30)

The Bachelor’s Minor in Digital Humanities and Text Mining (30 ECTS credits) is offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for students pursuing a Bachelor’s Major at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics or the Faculty of Science.

The program introduces basic programming as well as methods and tools for the computer-aided analysis of digital documents. You will learn how information can be automatically identified and extracted from textual data and how these methods can be applied to analyses in your own field of study.

The language of instruction is English.

Modular Structure of the Study Program

The program offers considerable flexibility: you can freely choose from the modules offered within the study program according to your interests. Please note that individual modules may require prior knowledge or skills.

To complete the Minor, you must earn at least 30 ECTS credits from the study program. At least 9 ECTS credits must be earned through graded coursework.

Throughout the program, you will encounter different learning formats that introduce computational methods and their application to digital and textual data.

Major/Minor Combinations

The Minor can only be combined with a Bachelor’s Major offered by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics or the Faculty of Science.

Further Study Options

Digital Humanities and Text Mining is not a consecutive study program and is not offered as a Master’s study program.
