Programming project: improve open-source libraries for sign language processing

Summary

In this project you are going to make important contributions to our open-source libraries for sign language processing.

We have a library dedicated to manipulating pose estimation data: https://github.com/AmitMY/pose-format and a sign language datasets library: https://github.com/sign-language-processing/datasets. Both of them need more features, documentation and polish.

It is up to you to decide which contributions to make. Examples:

  • Add documentation (docstrings, higher-level explanations, tutorials, example notebooks)
  • Extend unit tests
  • Add new features, finish open pull requests
  • Add pose estimation to datasets where we currently only have the videos themselves
  • Add new datasets

Your profile

  • You are currently studying Computational Linguistics or Computer Science.
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Experience with git workflows
  • You have an interest in, and willingness to learn more about, sign languages and sign language processing.
