Ola Knutsson, HCI group at the School of Computer Science and Communication at KTH, Stockholm
19. November 2009, 10:15 bis 12:00 in KOL-E-18
Writing and written language play today an increasingly important part in many people's lives. Written language has become more or less a prerequisite for daily communication. This development of society leads to increased needs for tools that can help humans to deal with language. A technology that has a potential to aid people with writing and learning is language technology. In this talk, the focus is on language tools based on language technology that can aid writers and learners of Swedish.
Making word processors process what they should – Insights with Progression Analysis
Daniel Perrin, Institut für Angewandte Medienwissenschaft der ZHAW, Winterthur
10. Dezember 2009, 10:15 bis 12:00 in KOL-E-18
Word processors can be a source of despair – for those who wrote the software, for those who use them to do their work, and for those who investigate professional writing in the workplace. In my presentation, I provide ethnographical insights into daily fights between man and machine in newsrooms. In doing so I access data collected with Progression Analysis, a multi method approach combining ethnography of writing with computer logging in the field.
